This is a tale Oh what a tale Of all the things I know Like giving up Like breaking down Like forever letting go This is a journey A hell of a journey Away from hopes and dreams To the deepest depths The lowest lows Where the sunshine won't find me Do we dare To venture forth Into the black abyss On a ship with NO COURSE There's one thing I know that's true The stars won't guide me home Right back to you Right back to you.... Tonight The stars Won't guide me home Tonight The stars Won't guide me home

I feel… I feel no connection No warmth from the glow Stranger… Tell me your fears? Maybe we’re the same Deaths hand grips our shoulders Awake… And counting every breath that we stole Do we all hold hearts worn & guilty? Our futures buried by the past Maybe you lie wake As I lie awake No connection What if we buried the past? Could we Just feel young while we are What if we buried the past? Could we Just feel young while we are It’s all I wanted She feels… No love, no connection Dying to know The comfort in her own skin A stillness of soul Maybe we’re the same Two dreamers in a harsh world Stranger… Was it love that we felt? Stranger… How, how was it love? How was it love that we felt? I can’t explain How was it love? How, how was it love? How was it love that we felt? I can’t explain How I got through the day Stranger... I feel nothing

This is the death of your empty... EMPTY WORLD 'A bone to pick... And a few to break' A callous end, a pale horse Your neglect will be turned against you I embrace the fallen... FALLEN SKIES Your elegy will be a cut throat I'll enact your downfall If we reach, reach for a brighter world We can breathe no longer robbed of hope To worship drunks and liars To love with fingers crossed... Sleep medicated, Dreams choked in the haze Our voice will be dissent. Our cries will be... We embrace the fallen... Fallen skies. Your elegy will be a cut throat We'll enact your downfall If we reach, reach for a brighter world We can breathe no longer robbed of hope Your light... Won't guide us... YOUR LIGHT WON'T GUIDE US HOME Your light won't guide us. Your light won't guide us home. YOUR LIGHT WON'T GUIDE US YOUR LIGHT WON'T GUIDE US HOME

Cold Sky Encircle this place These four walls Cage me like stone, they cage me I awake unto exile Your guilt is a chain Embody dispirit You sharpen the pain. And I don't think I can find the strength To keep the demons out TO KEEP THEM OUT To keep the demons out TO KEEP THEM OUT They take all I have to give this world And leaves this man with no will to live THE WOLVES ARE CLOSING IN And the holes In my bedroom door Grow larger every night Because my fists Can't think of anything better to break in spite THE WOLVES ARE CLOSING IN ON ME

I've been waiting for the day Where we put down our guns And stop living inside this hell Of blood sweat and tears, Of heart ache and sorrow Nights spent staring at the floor That we hate most What if instead of laying down our lives We leave this place For a brighter day What if instead of throwing ourselves in front of all the bullets that are coming for your head through our hearts What if we stopped doing what we're told How far could we go I still feel the cold pavement beneath my feet, Carrying me to where only it knows, If this is all we have Fall to your knees And beg the world For your lives because all I have Is all I see And all I need WE ARE THE STREETS WE ARE THE STREETS We're not taking bullets anymore

TIME ERASED Time erased us, Time erased...me You said the waves; they melt the hours When this town, is past dead The ashes, of you, and the brashness of youth Oh time erased all that we shared Do you feel lost… after all this growing up? Did we change for the better? MY FRIENDS... Or did we just give up? This cursed town will bury us all... Watch, just watch me… Spit blood on the streets This cursed town will bury me. Encase me, your tragedy in my bones You speak the words that keep me low Erase me, let the bitterness grow A spiteful world will swallow me whole. Do you feel lost… after all this growing up? Did we change for the better? MY FRIENDS... Or did we just give up? The ashes of you, the brashness of youth The ashes of you, the bitterness A spiteful world, will bury me.

We are striving Striving to reach the sky And we are thriving Thriving in the hell you tried to keep us in. I never thought I'd see the sun after having the earth ripped from under me EVERYDAY, I DREAMED Everyday I dreamed of being cut from my chains Taking flight and never looking back Breaking the cage that holds me Never seemed possible BUT NOW I hold A shattered lock A broken key In hands that will always be free I hide in darkness no more I cower to no fucking hand JUST TRY AND STOP ME Because we made it WE ARE FREE I close my eyes and feel the sun on my face The breeze on my skin ON MY SKIN After so long with no path at all, I look at my feet And what lays ahead Because we made it Because we made it WE ARE FREE Because we made it WE ARE Free...

And so you run Run with the wind And the sky still looks like painted pictures And so you run (And so you run) Run with the wind (Run with the wind) And the end still seems forever distant So are you where You want to be? Old friend Could you believe? We never made it And I still wake up so low Death and these useless things They take a hold of me Frail hope… my last friend… I’m fighting not to let go And so you run Run with the wind And the end still seems forever distant Death and these useless things They take a hold on They take a hold on me. And I still wake up so low At least I still wake You miss the coast at night The way the waves melt the time You miss the youth and the lust And the friends you could trust You see the faces age Pack the memories away Say goodbye to a world that left you..... THAT LEFT YOU LEFT YOU COLD THAT LEFT YOU LEFT YOU COLD 'Im still cursed Still Fucking Cursed And so you run Run with the wind And the sky still looks like painted pictures And so you run (And so you run) Run with the wind (Run with the wind And the end still seems forever distant

A nameless face in the crowd A girl with dreams so high Looking down at the street The wind beneath her feet Oh how I see, the beauty kept hidden away As the rest of the world runs against her Like the fiercest river. And still she stands, Against the waves. With head hung low No name or place, to call her own. The crowd forms, a thousand voices talk back at me "Where did she go?" "She was here just moments ago" "What did she say?" "What was her name?" She closes her eyes As I race up the stairs I hear her scream to the sky "Nothing left for me here No one to hear my voice In this world I've lost my place Nothing but a nameless face" That familiar feeling Of floating away The last shackle is released Before a sharp snatch Pulls her back To me and I scream "Don't leave this place Don't give in Be the weight that parts the waters." "Don't leave this place Don't give in" She smiles and turns to me and says "Open your eyes young man I'm already gone You came here just too late You never took hold of my arm" A bright lights stings me As my eyes adjust My hand remains out stretched But in them I hold nothing but dust I fall to my knees My soul torn in two There was nothing That I thought She couldn't pull through But now she's gone But now she's gone Her name was Her name was Her name was life.

about

Melbourne hardcore outfit OUR SOLACE are back with their long-overdue, debut full-length, “Death and What It Means to Live.”

A product of blue-collar suburban Melbourne, “Death and what it means to live” took shape over a lengthy period – recorded and mixed in Melbourne by Daniel & Tim Emond.

After close to a year of experimentation, fine-tuning vocals and adjusting song structures, the albums final touches were handled by the legendary Alan Douches (Modern Life is War, Converge, Comeback Kid, Foundation), a man responsible for the mastering on a great deal of our favourite records.

Taking cues from the sincere hardcore of old, yet articulated within a modern framework, “Death and What It Means to Live” is a conscious push against the current hardcore consensus.

Pre-order bundles are now available via BigCartel.
